Multidisciplinary Learning

The Sam Fox School combines the theoretical and practical, creating an environment where architects, landscape architects, and urban designers study alongside artists, curators, and theorists.

Students are supported and challenged throughout by faculty practitioners who are dedicated to teaching while advancing research in sustainability, fabrication, housing, and socially engaged practice.

Our Research

The foundation of our programs is the breadth and depth of our faculty’s research.

Our faculty provide students with meaningful opportunities to fuel their success. Working at the confluence of environmental and social issues, faculty advance development in our six areas of expertise:

  • design practice
  • collective housing
  • sustainable and equitable environments
  • history, theory, and culture
  • arts, fabrication, and technology
  • socially engaged practice

Our Community

Academics and studios are only half of the picture.

The Sam Fox School is a vibrant group of people interested in each other and the world around us. Our students are actively engaged on campus while exploring all that St. Louis has to offer — from major art museums, renowned parks, and National Historic Landmarks, to major league sports and a vibrant restaurant scene.
