This communication design seminar, taught by Enrique Von Rohr (senior lecturer and director of research and technology), explored how designers can create useful and desirable interactions between people and digital products and services.

Focusing on the use of human-centered research methods for the development of screen-based experiences, students engaged in a variety of exercises, including a collaborative design project with BJC HealthCare’s Center for Clinical Excellence. For that project, students participated in ethnographic field trips, and conducted interviews and research to better understand how BJC employees can lead healthy lifestyles and interact with wellness communities. Based on their findings, student teams developed a series of digital design solutions for improving the health and connectivity of employees.

Students' work culminated in a review of design solutions with a panel of BJC stakeholders in April 2015.

The following students participated in this studio: Elise Cramer, Paul Cronan, Michelle Cunningham, Juliet Goodman, Andrew Kay, Emily Kryzer, Christine Lee, Ye Jin Lee, Andrew Pandji, Maya Patterson, Monika Pawar, and Aiden Zucker.
