Statement

Solovic specializes in designing, illustrating and producing images that are whimsical and humorous with an air of sophistication. Her artwork is collage-based, using the mediums of cut paper, fabric, stitchery, and embellishments. Her images are conceived and designed to bring enjoyment to her viewers, to invoke a smile, a laugh, or a memory. Influences for her work include greeting cards, quilts, outsider art, vintage '50s, '60s, and '70s children's illustration, Japanese kawaii, and animated cartoons and movies. She is an avid collector of junk and cast-off treasures, found at estate sales and flea markets and brought back to life in her artwork.
