J. Meejin Yoon, born in Seoul, Korea, is an Associate Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and founder of MY Studio / Höweler + Yoon Architecture. HYA/MYA was awarded the Architecture League's Emerging Voices Award and Architectural Record's Design Vanguard in 2007. Their work has been exhibited at the Cooper Hewitt in New York, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Yoon is the recipient of the United States Artists Award in Architecture and Design in 2008, the Athena RISD/Target Emerging Designer Award in 2008, Rome Prize in Design in 2005, and Fulbright Research Fellowship in 1997. She received a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University with the AIA Henry Adams Medal and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design with Distinction from Harvard University. Recent publications by Yoon include Expanded Practice: Projects by Höweler + Yoon Architecture/MY Studio (Princeton Architectural Press 2009) and Public Works: Unsolicited Small Projects for the Big Dig (MAP Book Publishers 2009).
