The Sam Fox School is pleased to announce that Chad Henry will join the staff July 12 as our Director of Research & Innovation. In this position, he will lead all aspects of the School's research enterprise, with a focus on building a robust research support infrastructure, fostering partnerships across the University and externally, increasing external research funding, and sharing news about research activity. He will also oversee our IT staff operations.

Chad comes to the Sam Fox School with more than 20 years of experience in research development and administration at WashU. He has worked in sponsored research services for the School of Medicine, helped lead the Brown School’s research office, and, most recently, was the Operations Manager for the International Center for Energy, Environment and Sustainability (InCEES). Chad has assembled teams from across the University to secure funding for research and interdisciplinary initiatives. Notable projects on which he’s been deeply engaged include the launch of the Brown School’s public health program and the 2017 Solar Decathlon College Team Competition (CRETE House), which involved collaboration with the Sam Fox School. Additionally, he helped establish a partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies for the University to assist the City of St. Louis as a winner of the American Cities Climate Challenge and in hosting the Fall 2020 Midwestern Climate Summit Think Tank series.

Before his time at WashU, Chad worked as a paralegal for a law firm in New Orleans. He has a master’s degree in business administration from the Olin Business School and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tulane University. He and his wife, Sarah (an alum of the McKelvey School of Engineering), live in an old house in the City of St. Louis with their three children.
