MFA in Visual Art Research & Production Grants

The MFA in Visual Art program offers three opportunities each year for students to apply for grant funding for projects that may be out of reach financially without support.

The MFA-VA Graduate Student Production Grant provides funding for a student in their first or second year of study to engage in collaborative or individual creative work.

The MFA-VA Thesis Research and Production Grants provide funding for students in their second year of study to pursue ambitious thesis projects.

The MFA-VA Summer Project Support Grants provide funding for students in their first year of study to pursue projects over the summer between their first and second year of the program, and are intended to encourage creative growth and experimentation leading to new studio insights and discoveries.

Grant proposals are reviewed and awarded by a faculty jury, and they are typically funded up to $1000.
