Briceño Named Finalist for 2021 AXA Art Prize
Quinn Antonio Briceño (MFA-VA22) was named as a finalist for the 2021 AXA Art Prize. Forty students were selected from over 600 submissions by a national jury of esteemed artists and curators, including associate professor Jamie Adams. An exhibition of the finalists’ works will be mounted this fall in New York, and the winners will be announced in November.
Editorial Cartoonist Nixon Retires from Jefferson County Leader
Judy Nixon (BFA49), the longtime editorial cartoonist for the Jefferson County Leader, has retired to move closer to her family. Nixon joined the Leader staff in 1998. She has won numerous state and national awards for her work, and was named to the Missouri Press Association Hall of Fame in 2014.
Meyer Published in Sewanee Review
Jen Logan Meyer, assistant director of career development-art, has a new story in the summer issue of the Sewanee Review. Professor Jeff Pike has created several illustrations inspired by Meyer’s work, some of which will be on view in a fall faculty exhibition at the Des Lee Gallery.

Nadler Featured in National Survey of Contemporary Ceramics
This Moment of Rupture, a national survey of contemporary ceramics featuring work by associate professor Arny Nadler, opens July 9 at VisArts Center (Rockville, MD) with a virtual reception from 5-7p. An in-person reception will take place from 7-9p July 16. The show remains on view through August 8.
