Berry Named to Forbes' Next 1000 List
Megan Berry (MArch15, MBA15) has been named to Forbes‘ Next 1000 list that spotlights inspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders. Berry is CEO and founder of by REVEAL, a retail service platform that offers turnkey service in launching pop-up stores and in-person experiences in New York City.
Weinstein's Comic Published by Slate
Slate has published The Gift of Time, a comic created by Lauren Weinstein (BFA97), who is an artist-in-residence at Town Clock, a nonprofit that provides long-term affordable housing to survivors of domestic violence. The project is supported by the 2021 Stone & DeGuire Contemporary Art Award from the Sam Fox School.
Strembicki Discusses Post-Katrina Photography with St. Louis Public Radio
St. Louis Public Radio’s Jeremy D. Goodwin spoke with professor emeritus Stan Strembicki about the motivation for his exhibition Lost Library, which features photographs of books in post-Katrina New Orleans, and how he sees the disfigured objects as emblematic of a neighborhood that the city has failed to fully rebuild.
Yates Promoted at PGAV Destinations
Amanda Yates (BFA10) has been promoted to director of brand experience at PGAV Destinations. Yates is a multidisciplinary designer and brand strategist with over 10 years of experience in the industry, specializing in museum and brand experiences. In her new role she will work with leadership across sectors to develop, grow, and execute sales strategies for an evolved range of brand services.
Leet, Allen Featured in Series from The Platform
Essays by professor Stephen Leet and senior lecturer Michael Allen are featured in the Platform series “Teaching in Tumultuous Times,” which addresses the social and environmental responsibility of practitioners. Leet contributed the essay “Teaching Architectural Design in Xenophobic Times,” and Allen contributed “Architectural Humanities in the Time of Pandemic and Revolt.”
Heyda's Article Published in the Journal of Architectural Education
Associate professor Patty Heyda’s article “#ArchSoWhite” was published in the Journal of Architectural Education 75:2 Building Stories. The essay explores the renovation of Gateway Arch National Park and what public-private projects like this one can mean to and for communities. “When the middleman makes the city, who is accountable for decisions—or mistakes?” asks Heyda. “And who has the authority to shape the public history of place?”
Wilson Reflects on Kemper Art Museum Teaching Gallery Exhibition
In this article, senior lecturer of classics Kathryn Wilson (Arts & Sciences) talks about her Teaching Gallery exhibition at the Kemper Art Museum, Colonizing the Past: Constructing Race in Ancient Greece and Rome, which explores the role and implications of our tendency to ascribe modern racial identities to people who lived in the ancient past.
