KieranTimberlake Selected for Louis Kahn Award
Stephen Kieran and James Timberlake of KieranTimberlake—the architecture firm who designed Weil Hall, the Kemper Art Museum expansion, and other buildings as part of the University’s East End Transformation—have been honored with the 35th Louis Kahn Award. The recognition honors the most influential and accomplished architects from around the world.
Alumni Among Great Rivers Biennial Finalists
The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis announced the 10 finalists for the 2022 Great Rivers Biennial. They include Sam Fox School alumni Yvonne Osei (MFA-VA16), Marina Peng (BFA17), Jon Young (MFA-VA18), and Ronald Young (MFA-VA18), among others. The three winners will be announced at the end of the month.

Vale Awarded MacDowell Fellowship
Assistant professor Constance Vale was awarded a MacDowell Fellowship. With a record number of applicants this cycle, the organization awarded fellowships to 139 artists from 25 U.S. states and seven countries.
The LA Times published this feature story on Sara Velas (BFA99) and the Velaslavasay Panorama, an uncategorizable art wonderspace that features gardens, a performance space, and a 90-ft panorama, among other delights. “It doesn’t fit neatly into any boxes, and that was a huge part of the desire to create it,” says Velas, who founded the space over 20 years ago after creating a panorama for her BFA Thesis Exhibition.
Hanahan's Work Featured in Solo Show
Edgelands, a solo exhibition of work by associate professor Jonathan Hanahan, is on view October 12-24 at Texas State Galleries: Flex Space in San Marcos, Texas.
Ćosić's Film Screened at Video Art Festival in Italy
Colorboarding, a film by Zlatko Ćosić (MFA-VA11), will be screened at the Over the Real video art festival at the Palazzo Delle Esposizioni Fondazione Ragghianti in Lucca, Italy, October 12-17.
Kempf Participating in Shaping the City: A Forum for Sustainable Cities and Communities
Assistant professor Petra Kempf will give a lecture and moderate a panel discussion as part of Shaping the City: A Forum for Sustainable Cities and Communities. Organized by the European Cultural Centre in the context of the exhibition Time, Space, Existence and the Venice Architecture Bienniale, the forum will take place October 15-16.
Colten, Zavaglia Featured in Saint Louis Art Museum Exhibition
Art Along the Rivers, an exhibition featuring art produced or collected within the “confluence region,” includes work by senior lecturer Jennifer Colten, alum Cayce Zavaglia (MFA-VA98), and others. The show is on view through January 9 at the Saint Louis Art Museum.
