Kempf Organizes Confront[ing] Urbanization Symposium
Assistant professor Petra Kempf has developed and curated the Confront[ing] Urbanization Symposium, a hybrid event featuring panel discussions, a performance, and more. Got Umbrella, a collaborative performance by Kempf and graduate architecture students Tara Weng and Min Lin, will take place on November 4. From November 5-7, Tabula Urbaine will feature a series of panel discussions and related events including Kempf, associate professor Zeuler Lima, and numerous other participants. The symposium will take place at the Palazzo Michiel, European Cultural Centre in Venice, Italy, and draws from work by Kempf that’s currently featured at the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale.
Samuels Featured in RSA Journals Annual Lecture Series
Associate professor Linda C. Samuels will deliver a lecture on Infrastructural Optimism: Case Studies for Systems-based Urban Design as part of the 2021 Regional Studies Association Journals Annual Lecture Series online at 8a PDT November 4.
Lima Launches New Book on Lina Bo Bardi
In conjunction with the launch of his new book Le Dea Stanca. Vita di Lina Bo Bardi (The Weary Goddess, Life of Lina Bo Bardi), associate professor Zeuler Lima will take part in a discussion with panelists Roberto Dulio and Francesca Monteni at 12p CDT November 4 at the Ateneo Veneto (Venice Center for Arts and Science).
Rios Featured in Three Visages of Nature Group Show
Work by Jorge Rios (MFA-VA23) is featured in the group exhibition Three Visages of Nature, which opens from 6-9p CDT November 5 at The Research House for Asian Art in Chicago. The show is on view through November 23.
Virtual Book Launch for Well Waiting Room
This virtual book launch for Well Waiting Room will feature poetry readings by communications strategist Stephanie Ellis Schlaifer (BFA99/BA99) and Sarah Mangold, launching their new collections from Fordham University Press. Hosted by Elliott Bay Books (Seattle), the event will take place at 7p CDT November 6.
