Doshi awarded RIBA Royal Gold Medal
Renowned Indian architect Balkrishna Doshi, a visiting professor in WashU’s School of Architecture from 1958-1961 and a professional advisor and guest lecturer for the School from 1968-1975, has been announced as the recipient of the 2022 RIBA Royal Gold Medal, one of the highest architectural honors in the world. Doshi is also the 2018 recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize.
Liu essay featured in Flat
“The Mockup Aesthetic: Gestures of Transgression,” an interactive essay by communication design student Leslie Liu (BFA22), was published in the journal Flat.
Keller, Bergman and Salinas collaborates on seed library
Margaret Keller (MFA89), Aeron Bergman, and Alejandra Salinas are collaborating on Seed as Idea, a seed library intended to counter monolithic agribusiness’ global control of seeds. The seed library offers non-GMO Golden Amaranth seed, promoting food sovereignty, biodiversity, and sustainability.
Works by Farocki on view at Kemper
Images of the World and the Inscription of War (1988) and Schnittstelle (Interface) (1995), two critically renowned works by avant-garde filmmaker and video artist Harun Farocki (1944–2014), are now on view at the Kemper Art Museum. Farocki’s work investigates the ways that images are used to inform, instruct, persuade, and propagandize.
