MFA-VA Production Grant Award, Fall 2020
2020-12-08 • Sam Fox School
Each semester, the Sam Fox School’s MFA in Visual Art program awards a Production Grant to an MFA-VA student to support new projects.
First-year student Carlos Salazar-Lermont has been awarded the fall 2020 Production Grant, in the amount of $750, for Monument to the Venezuelan Diaspora. The proposed project seeks to address the current issue of massive Venezuelan emigration through a sculptural monument made from a bunkbed and emergency blankets. He will execute his project in the spring of 2021.
Grant proposals are reviewed and awarded by a faculty jury based on the following criteria:
- A creative vision for enhancing graduate-level academic activity, teaching, learning or research
- Use of materials or facilities not available or easily accessible in the ordinary course of student work
There will be additional opportunities for MFA-VA students to apply for project funding through the Thesis Research and Production Grants (for second-year students) and the spring Production Grant (open to first- and second-year students).
