In the News: Week of January 10

[dhd] derek hoeferlin design, led by associate professor Derek Hoeferlin, chair of landscape architecture and urban design, has been named a finalist for Design STL’s 2022 Architect & Designer Awards in the New Build category. The winners will be announced February 17.

Associate professor Aggie Toppins, chair of undergraduate design, published the essay “Good Nostalgia/Bad Nostalgia” in Design and Culture. A rewriting of Tibor Kalman, Abbott Miller, and Karrie Jacobs’ 1991 polemic, “Good History/Bad History,” Toppins examines nostalgic impulses in the field and critiques the persistence of canonical histories.

Sarah Paulsen (MFA07) has been named a 2021-22 Kranzberg Resident Artist. Residents receive a $1,000 stipend, a dedicated workspace, and professional support for one year.

Irene Hong (BFA17) and Megan Lee (BFA19) have curated and launched an online exhibition, End, Beginning, of work by recent Sam Fox School graduates from South Korea. Check it out!

Addoley Dzegede (MFA-VA15), as part of Ask Addoley & Anna (Addoley Dzegede & Anna Ihle) will be featured in The Real Show. The event opens Sunday, January 16 from 3-6p (in person) at CAC Brétigny, France.
