ABOUT ST. LOUIS

WE LOVE SAINT LOUIS

St. Louis is a hub of creativity. A mid-size city with an outsize creative scene, it is a confluence of rivers, people, and ideas. With a landscape that is modern and historic, our city has deep cultural roots and a thriving creative scene. All the city’s museums and most of its cultural institutions are free. Beloved for its distinctive red brick and its incredible urban parks, this is a place that reveres its designers, artists, thinkers, and makers, and our students are lively contributors to its culture.

St. Louis is a city of unprecedented access. It is sophisticated, homey, edgy, approachable, affordable, cosmopolitan, sure of itself, and down to earth. But more than anything, St. Louis is a place for you to be you.

THIS IS A PLACE TO EXPERIENCE CULTURE
We have four major art museums, two sculpture parks, dozens of galleries and artist-run spaces, a world-renowned symphony, and a thriving literary scene. Favorite Spots: Saint Louis Art Museum, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Pulitzer Arts Foundation, Laumeier Sculpture Park, Missouri Botanical Garden, Citygarden, Kemper Art Museum (part of the Sam Fox School!), Gateway Arch National Park, Cherokee Street Galleries, 100 Boots Poetry Series, UrbArts, The Luminary.

THIS IS A PLACE TO HAVE FUN
People will tell you St. Louis is a baseball town (go Cards!), or a hockey town (ahem, 2019 Stanley Cup winners!), but it’s also a design town, a nature town, a music town, a bike town, and a food town. There are seriously great restaurants everywhere you look: Blueberry Hill, Corner 17, Fork & Stix, Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, Pastaria, Winslow’s, World’s Fair Donuts, Taco Buddha, Lona’s Lil Eats, and Balkan Treat Box are some of our favorites.

Favorites: Balloon Glow, Whitaker Music Festival, Tower Grove Farmers Market, Forest Park, City Museum, Cherokee Street, STL Design Week, Cahokia Mounds

THIS IS A PLACE TO LAUNCH YOUR CAREER
St. Louis is one of the most affordable, culturally exciting cities in which to launch your career. Our graduates have gotten their first public commissions here, opened their own galleries, and founded businesses from furniture design to fashion, including HOK, Monaco, Trivers, Flood Plain, Cheree Berry Paper, Perennial, and Arbolope to name a few. This is where they got their start. You can go anywhere from here.
