Stephen Deaderick



Dr. Stephen Deaderick joined the Sam Fox School in July 2021 as the inaugural assistant director for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Prior to coming to WashU, Deaderick worked in higher education for over a decade at Emory University, Tulane University, The Ohio State University, and UCLA.

He has been an active leader for several years in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators’ Asian Pacific Islander Knowledge Community, has presented at national conferences including the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity, and has served as a staff member for the Semester at Sea program. Deaderick has given a TEDx Talk about pausing and taking a deep dive into your own story and has dedicated much of his career to social justice work. He holds a BA in sociology and educational studies from Emory University, an MEd in student affairs from UCLA, and a PhD in higher education and student affairs from The Ohio State University.
